Rep. Morgan Irwin introduces “back-to-school” sales tax holiday
Rep. Morgan Irwin, R-Enumclaw, has introduced legislation to ease the tax burden on working families through a “back-to-school” sales tax holiday. His bill, House Bill 1457 provides a temporary tax holiday every August for parents purchasing back-to-school supplies and uniforms for their children.
Irwin says his bill is about providing tax relief and lowering the tax burden on Washingtonians. This bill puts money back in the pockets of working families.
“This is a great bill for kids and working families,” said Irwin. “It sends a clear message that nothing is more important than making sure our children have what they need to be successful in school. This is the kind of legislation I came to Olympia to be a part of.”
HB 1457 has been referred to the House Finance Committee where it awaits a hearing.
