Reps. Morgan Irwin and Drew Stokesbary to host 31st District telephone town hall on Jan. 9

Rep. Morgan Irwin, R-Enumclaw, and Rep. Drew Stokesbary, R-Auburn, are inviting residents of the 31st District to join them Wednesday, Jan. 9 for a telephone town hall meeting. The community conversation, which is similar to a call-in radio show, will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last one hour.
This will be an opportunity to ask questions directly to the lawmakers, while they provide information on the upcoming 2019 legislative session. Reps. Irwin and Stokesbary expect to vote on major proposals dealing with mental health, affordable housing, and environmental policies. The Legislature must also write a biennial state budget. Last month, Gov. Inslee issued his proposed budget, which would increase state spending by 20 percent, funded in part by a new capital gains income tax and higher businesses taxes.
Most residents will receive invitations to participate by phone just before the meeting begins. Those wishing to call in simply need to dial (253) 215-1070 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Once connected, they can listen in and press (*) star on their telephone keypad to ask questions.
Rep. Irwin serves on the Capital Budget, Civil Rights and Judiciary, and Transportation committees.
Rep. Stokesbary serves on the Appropriations and Finance committees.
Questions prior to the telephone town hall meeting can be sent to Rep. Irwin at (360) 786-7866 or morgan.irwin@leg.wa.gov, or Rep. Stokesbary at (360) 786-7846 or drew.stokesbary@leg.wa.gov.
The 2019 legislative session begins Jan. 14 and runs 105-consecutive days.
